In an effort to combat the rise of relationship violence in popular novels, we would like to offer an opportunity to shine a light on the reality of dating violence and how to recognize if an act or behavior is criminal or just in bad taste. We hope to offer a counterbalance to the ever-growing nature of violence and lack of consent in novels, paired with the inability to know how to respond when someone sees a woman being harassed in public. If someone is not safe, that is not romance.
Join us as we welcome a presentation by local personal protection expert and author of the book "The Timeline of Self-Defense", Randy King. Books will be available for purchase and signing.
We are also eager to welcome a presenter from the Sexual Assault Center of Edmonton (SACE), who will speak about how to counter the normative sexual violence in our community and how victims can get support. The $5 from each ticket will be donated to SACE's work in support of preventing sexual violence.
